Purrfect Endings: Simon

He must have been a house cat at some point, as he is not feral, but very shy. A lady who found him started feeding him and fed him for several years, but when she had to move she couldn’t take him with her and didn’t want to leave him to fend for himself since he had become dependent on her handouts. She brought him to Purrfect Pals where we quickly found that he was too shy to thrive at the Shelter. While he was residing in foster care one of our volunteers worked to find him a forever home. A special woman named Sherry called about a different cat altogether – she was looking for a sassy, fat, friendly cat – definitely not a cat like Simon. When Sherry heard about Simon she wavered. As she came to understand that very few people are willing to take in a shy older cat she decided that she needed to give him a chance. Simon has been with Sherry for three months now and it has been a slow process to gain his trust. Sherry says, “I am patient; I can wait as long as it takes, because I promised Simon he will never have to worry again.”

When you are thinking about adopting a cat, please think about special cats like Simon Says. The shy senior cats really need people like Sherry who will open their hearts and homes to provide them the care and companionship that they need.

Your donations help support Purrfect Pal’s programs to help socialize and find great homes for wonderful feral kittens like Solomon.
