Shaleah is a very special Siamese girl with brilliant sapphire blue eyes. Adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten in 2011, she was returned when her family’s situation changed, and they could no longer keep her. Imagine our surprise when the gorgeous little Siamese kitten we knew returned as a morbidly obese 26-pound kitty! She is on a strict diet of 2 meals a day of ¼ cup Royal Canine Calorie Control at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 1 small serving of canned food once daily. She’s now down to 20-pounds (and continuing to lose weight) but it’s a long, slow process. Currently, Shaleah has some issues with her “personal” hygiene as a result of her weight – she just can’t reach her nether regions to care for them herself – yet. Once she’s slimmed down a bit more, this will cease to be an issue, but in the meantime, she needs a little assistance keeping things spiffy, thank you very much! Shaleah is hoping to find that wonderful person who knows her love and companionship are worth a the extra effort. (She promises that she’ll take over that aspect of her care just as soon as possible, really.) Shaleah is an independent cat who is initially shy but friendly and outgoing once she feels secure in her surroundings. At the shelter, she enjoys meeting new people and absolutely blossoms when admired, petted, or spoken with. She’s quite the personality, enjoying being with people but not wanting to be picked up or held. Typical of her Siamese heritage, she’s a chatty girl who will gladly give an opinion on just about anything except religion, politics or money. She will be sure to tell you when she wants attention or pets, and she’ll also let you know when she needs a little peace and quiet. She can get overstimulated and may nip to let you know she’s had enough attention for the moment. Because of that, she’ll probably do best with an experienced cat person in an adult home without young children. She gets along well with other cats but would also be okay as an only cat. Shaleah is going to make somebody an absolutely devoted, loving, beautiful companion and she’d like to do that sooner rather than later. Could you help this lady out and give her the forever home she deserves and wants? While this sweet girl is waiting for a new family, would you like to become her monthly sponsor?
