UPDATED: We Need Your Help to Provide Eye Surgery for Kona!

Have you ever had a stray eyelash in your eye? Remember how irritating it was? Now imagine how if would feel if ALL of your eyelashes were rubbing on your eyes!

Entropion is a condition in which a portion of a cat’s eyelid is turned inward against the eyeball rather than lying flush around it. It can cause significant irritation, infections, and may affect a cat’s ability to see normally.

This condition is uncommon in cats but poor Kona is one of the unlucky few who will need surgery to return the eyelid to its normal position. Not only is he in pain from the condition but, if left untreated, it could lead to a decrease in vision or complete loss of his eyesight. We need to send Kona to a veterinarian who specializes in eye surgeries as soon as possible.

Please help us provide surgery and ongoing medical care for this sweet boy by donating to our Tipper Fund today!

It was a huge relief when we were able to get Kona the surgery he needed and save both of his eyes!

This week, a young man who follows us on Facebook and had seen Kona’s story, came to our adoption center in the Lynnwood Petsmart store to meet the pair and there was an instant connection. He came up several times from Seattle to visit, completed his application and set about outfitting his home for them. Yesterday, which just happened to be his birthday, he took Kris and Kona home to start their new lives together. It was obvious from the car full of cat goodies that the boys are going to be completely spoiled!

The happy ending for this duo was made possible by Everett Animal Shelter’s commitment to saving cats by partnering with Purrfect Pals and transferring cats who need more medical care than they can provide; our supporters who donated to help cover the cost of Kona’s surgery; Thorngren Foster Kittens, who took the boys and nursed Kona through his post-op recovery and a guy who really wanted to give this pair their forever home. Wishing Bryan, Kona and Kris a long, happy life together!
